Your post is extremely vague on what "the right track." You mean having women as leaders? Or willingness to try new things? A little more explanation would be very useful.
The story is hopeful simply because experts are eager to believe that the new leader of Liberia will resist the allure of self-serving corruption and poor governance. The fact that she is a woman is only notable insofar as it is a first. But in a place like Africa, I'm of the mind to believe that this fact certainly cannot hurt.
